Elevator Security - Rich and Famous who got Stuck in an Elevator

People don’t feel safe in confined spaces and elevators are no different; especially considering elevator breakdowns occur 1 in every 5,000 rides. I’m sure we all think about elevator safety at some point when we step into an elevator cab. Elevator Security is another concern for many. The rich and famous are no different.

Location: The Mining Exchange Hotel, Colorado Springs, Colorado

What happened: President Donald Trump was trapped inside the hotel elevator with 10 people, including Secret Service agents, as he was leaving to address a presidential campaign rally in Colorado Springs. They were soon rescued by firefighters who opened the top elevator hatch and lowered a ladder so everyone could climb out.

Location: Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado

What happened: Former first lady Hillary Clinton was caught in a minor elevator mishap after the Democratic National Convention ended at the Pepsi Center. According to ABC News, the door was then pushed open and everyone in the elevator was “lifted and squeezed out”. She left the scene looking shocked but her aide later advised that “She’s fine”.

What happened: In 1982, former president Ronald Regan was trapped in an elevator at the White House with the Secretary of Health & Human Services, the Secretary of Education, an elevator operator and a Secret Service agent. It happened when he was en route to celebrate a new public-private partnership to provide health care screening to millions of Americans. The elevator breakdown was a result of scattered power outages around Washington owing to a fire at the utility plant. Fortunately they were rescued in few mins.

What happened: Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler, and Eric Stonestreet from the cast of modern family were stuck in a freight elevator at the hotel for 50 minutes. They were on their way to a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls club of Greater Kansas City. The crowd of 15 were rescued by firefighters following their tweet “Get us out”

What happened: American singer, song writer, dancer, and actress Pink was to perform at Summerfest concert in Milwaukee for the first time after 4 years of absence in 2017. A few hours before the performance, she and her 6-year old daughter got stuck in an elevator.
